What's an affiliate program?
In a nutshell, you refer people to a website in exchange for a commission on every qualified sale you produce. That usually means adding a link (encoded with a unique ID number) from your web site or e-mail message to the other site, which tracks how many sales you are responsible for.

We take care of everything: Once you pass the visitor on to our site, we'll take care of all the details, including charging their credit card, shipping their orders, and providing any customer service or technical support necessary. You don't have to do a thing!

What is a 2-Tier affiliate program?
A 2-Tier affiliate program is a very powerful earning tool. As well as referring people to our website to make purchases, you can also tell them about the opportunity to earn affiliate commission. If they sign up as an affiliate, you are logged as the person who introduced them and they become part of your Team. You will be able to see your Team growing and how their sales are doing in the Affiliate Resource area. You will then earn a commission on every qualifying sale made by your Team, multiplying your earning power many times over.

When do I get paid?
Sales become eligable for affiliate commission five days after completion. We calculate commission on all eligable sales for the previous month within 10 days of month end and aim to dispatch all payments by the 15th of the month. Please note that if you have earned less than £25 in commission for any month and you have chosen to be paid by cheque, your commission will be carried over and paid when the total commission earned is over £25. If you include a PayPal email address during sign up your commission will be paid into PayPal each and every month regardless of the amount earned.

How do I sign up and how long does it take?
Just go to our application form. The sign-up process takes just a couple of minutes and there are no long surveys or endless forms to fill out. In just a couple of minutes you can be signed up and access our Affiliate Resource area where you'll find all the info you need to get started.

I don't live in the UK, can I sign up?
Certainly. We do, however, reserve the right to refuse access to the Rivet Shop affiliate program at our sole discretion. You also need to be aware that we only pay commission by 2 methods: PayPal and UK sterling cheque. Most banks will charge you to cash a sterling cheque which will reduce your earnings. We recommend joining PayPal if you live outside of the UK so we can transfer money to you at no cost.

How will you keep track of the orders coming from my site?
It's easy! When you sign up as a Rivet Shop affiliate, you will be assigned a unique identification number. This unique identification number is used in every URL that you use to link to the Rivet Shop and its products.
Plus, in all the classified ads, banner ads, text links, etc. that we provide you with, we have already added your unique affiliate identification number. (We want to make things as easy as possible for you!)
When your visitor first comes to our site, we'll tag them with a "cookie" that includes your affiliate number. So if someone visits the Rivet Shop through your link to our site and does not buy one of our products right away, but returns within 90 days, you will still get credit for that sale and earn your commission!
If they have their "cookies" turned off on their browser, our special tracking software will always point to your reference number, even if they bookmark us and return later to purchase.

How will I know how many of each product I sold?
You'll receive an e-mail alerting you of each order moments after it is placed. Plus, our exclusive Affiliate Resource area lets you view exactly how many visitors have traveled from your site to the Rivet Shop and how many of each product were sold on a daily basis.

What kind of income can I expect?
The amount you earn depends on the type of people that visit your site, how many visitors you receive monthly, and how much exposure you give to the Rivet Shop and its products. We cannot give you a figure specific to you, but as an illustration, if the visitors you send us buy just one top selling Powerbroker kit each day you will be earning about £222 a month. You may earn less than this, but you can earn considerably more.
Sites that have links to the Rivet Shop in many places throughout their web sites do MUCH better than sites that only have a small link or just one link on their site. We cannot emphasize enough how important exposure is to the success of your campaign.

How much will I be paid when I make a sale?
You earn a basic commission of 20% of the selling price (excluding shipping and VAT, if charged) for each product. That's a great commission compared to the average consumer product affiliate program which typically offers just 5-10%. But it get's better. If the total of your sales (not your commissions) comes to over £100 in any one month you get a 5% bonus on all sales paid out that month. If your total exceeds £250 we will increase your bonus to 10%. That means you can earn 30% commission by selling just 11 Powerbroker kits or 18 Catwalk kits in a month - very realistic with this hot selling product range.

How much will I be paid when my Team make a sale?
You earn a basic commission of 10% of the selling price (excluding shipping and VAT, if charged) for each product sold by your team. We also operate a Team bonus that can seriously boost your income and is designed to encourage you to support the people your introduce as affiliates. If the total of your Team sales comes to over £1000 in any one month you get a 2% bonus on all sales paid out that month. If your Team total exceeds £2500 we will increase your bonus to 5%. That means you can earn up to 15% on your entire Team sales.

How many people can I expect to buy?
As you probably already know, conversion rates depend on many factors. On average, most Rivet Shop affiliates earn one sale for every 100 to 150 visitors they send us. Some sites that really "perform" see one sale for every 33 to 36 visitors they refer to us; however, to get this kind of great conversion ratio, a personal recommendation is required to give the added credibility to your promotion. A personal recommendation can increase your referral fees by as much as 400%.
With that said, we want to make it clear that the type of traffic you generate has a direct effect on the percentage of people that buy. For example, if you are promoting the Rivet Shop on a site that sells horse saddles, it would be more reasonable to expect 1 sale out of every 500 to 700 visitors to the Rivet Shop site as these visitors are not targeted (i.e. they're unqualified visitors).
However, if you have a site that reviews or sells mobile phones or their accessories, digital cameras, or other mobile devices, you could expect to see results such as one out of every 50 visitors buying because they are the perfect qualified visitor with a natural interest in our products.

Do I need a credit card merchant account and a secure site to join?
No. That's the beauty of an affiliate program, we take care of all of the payment processing, secure server technology and even the shopping cart system. All you do is promote our products and cash your commission checks every month!

Can I receive my commissions via Pay Pal?
Yes. PayPal is our prefered method of payment, particularly if you live outside of the UK. If you include a PayPal email address in your sign up form we will automatically pay you via PayPal. The only other way we make payments is by UK sterling cheque which will not be free to cash if you live outside of the UK.

How should I incorporate the Rivet Shop Affiliate Program into my web site?

How will my visitors order?
We take care of everything. You just need to direct the visitors to the Rivet Shop web site through your affiliate links, and we'll look after taking the order, delivering the product, etc...
When one of your visitors clicks through your affiliate link, we will display the appropriate page, where the customer can order directly online, or by mailing in a cheque.
When the customer is ready to order, the Rivet Shop ordering system takes over, and automatically processes the order, while recording your affiliate identification number to guarantee that you're credited for the sale.

Can I take orders directly on my web site instead?
No. We offer a secure web site which is essential in collecting online orders. Plus, we handle all customer questions and requests, including cancellations and returns.
In fact, that's one of the reasons why earning affiliate commissions is so much easier than managing your own business! You get to eliminate the hassles of product development, web site publishing, order processing, shipping, refunds, and customer service. We do all that. All you do is drive visitors to our site!
